Tessuti Fabrics Evie Bias Skirt

Pattern: Tessuti Fabrics Evie Bias Skirt (view a with side invisible zipper). To make this skirt I measured my waist and hips. My waist is 74 cm and my hips are 89 cm making me a size 8 on the pattern size chart. I went to the actual pattern, size 8, and at the waist measured across front and back (minus 1/2 inch seam allowances) to determine if that size would give me a finished product with a comfortable waist. It did not. So I went up to a size 10. I'm glad I did because it fits perfectly.

Muslin/Fitting: I didn't make a muslin because I knew the muslin wouldn't drape the same way silky fabric does. I checked fit by basting the seam allowance after cutting but before I attached a zipper or waistband. This is out of order but I'll include the fitting pictures here.

Fabric & Cutting: This fabric is from Joann's. I think after a couple it came to $10/yard and I bought 2.25 yards. It has beautiful body, drapes perfectly, and the color is so rich. I'm really happy with this selection. There were some marks on the fabric which I marked with tape. Unfortunately, this limited where I could place my pattern pieces. Fortunately it worked out.

Sewing: I followed the directions exactly. The only issue I had was I bought a 22 inch invisible zipper instead of a 22 cm invisible zipper. Fortunately I had a spare black one on hand, which doesn't match but it's invisible.

Final Product: This skirt is everything I dreamed it would be. I'm really happy with this pattern. It's well drafted and the sewing instructions are easy to follow. I will make this again with the elastic waist option (view b) in a lighter fabric with more drape.
